At the end of the production process, e.g. in the Packaging/Assembly area, products are packaged in cartons. The cartons have to be stacked and/or sorted automatically. The carton width and height have to be determined for this purpose. The cartons are pushed through against a side limit stop by a pusher.
Two measuring light grids with a resolution of 5 mm work with an evaluation unit that enables two light grids to be connected. One light grid measures the carton height and the other measures the width. The values measured for height and width can be output by field bus or 2 analog outputs. It is important for the light grids to be fast, because the cartons are conveyed at a high speed.
