Determining carton heights
Task
At the end of the production process, e.g. in the Packaging and Assembly areas, products are packaged in cartons. The cartons have to be sorted based on height, so the height has to be determined. The cartons are not aligned on the side and are conveyed at a high speed.
Solution
Our measuring light grid determines carton heights with a resolution of 5 mm and a separate evaluation unit. This requires the light grid to have a small format, which makes it considerably easier to integrate into the system. The value measured for height can be output by field bus or an analog output. It is important here for our light grids to be very fast, because the cartons are conveyed at a high speed.
