In a punching tool it is necessary to detect whether or not a sheet metal part is present. If a new punching cycle begins and the part from the previous cycle is still in the tool, this will cause a crash, which can destroy the tool.
A distance sensor is used to check whether the part is still present. One must teach the sensor to switch in a tight window around the sheet metal part. If the sheet (minimum thickness 2 mm) is not present, then the sensor does not switch.
